Letterpress PLAY is a letterpress studio that fosters community, play and wonder by sharing our zero waste paper toys, cards, posters and hankies. All of our paper objects are made with our beautiful old presses, an odd assortment of lead or wooden moveable type and the magic of polymer plates. Our studio has a creative, casual and design-savvy environment. 

Production Intern – Austin, Texas

Assist with all aspects of production and organization at a small design studio in south Austin. All products are made by hand or with the assistance of antique printing equipment. Intern will report to Master Printer and Art Director and may be requested to assist in other departments as needed.

Will train in specifics of our production but education or experience in fine or commercial arts required. Candidates must have an eye for detail, an ability to discern nuances in color, and patience. Position requires sustained physical activity including standing, lifting of heavy objects, and repetitive actions. Tasks may include packaging products, sorting metal type, block printing, and fabric dyeing. 

Must be available at least 4 consecutive hours, required hours will run between 8-12 depending on production needs. We can work around your class schedule but most work will happen between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is a paid internship.

Part-Time Retail Sales Associate – Austin, Texas

We’re looking for a high-energy, solutions- and result-oriented retail sales associate who likes toys, crafting, children, and community to join our team!

To begin, you can expect to work part-time from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays, with flexible hours between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. There will be additional opportunities outside of your regular hours assisting at local vendor fairs, events, and workshops.

The position will start the last week of August at $10/hour with potential to grow your hourly rate and expand your role.

  • Organize and stock retail space
  • Order fulfillment, including packaging, boxing and mailing

  • Support Retail Sales and Outreach Manager in hosting and running workshops, events, and local vendor fairs 
  • Host open studio hours
  • Keep studio running smoothly
