Today is International Women's Day!

Today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate women and women’s suffrage.

At Letterpress PLAY, we are a woman-founded company that believes in lifting up our fellow female and female-identifying artists and printers.

We’ve also named each of our letterpress machines after grandmas, artists, activists and changemakers, from Katharine Graham, the publisher of The Washington Post, to Ruth Ellis, a Detroit printer and Black LGBTQ icon who lived to the age of 101, and Friedl Dicker-Brandeis, the Jewish painter & teacher whose legacy lives on. The presses are heavy, strong, and enduring—much like the spirit of their namesakes.

“I call on the stories of many women for reminders of strength and courage, but as a creative, I also look for those direct mentors and connection to the creative process.”  – Kyle Hawley, Letterpress PLAY Founder and Creative Director

On this day, join us in supporting female and female-identifying makers in our local community and beyond. Let’s stand arm-in-arm on our walk towards equality.

With love,
– The Letterpress PLAY team
